Colin Barlow
Nusa Tengarra Association

Dr Colin Barlow is the Founder, President and CEO of the Nusa Tenggara Association.

He is a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Political and Social Change at the Australian National University. Colin first visited Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) in 1988, where he and other colleagues were taken aback by the poverty-stricken conditions. In 1992, Colin and Shirley Bowman founded the NTA. Colin holds a PhD from the University of Aberdeen.

The NTA assists with the provision of 15 000 litre water tanks and toilets to improve household hygiene, reduce the time burden spent on water collection, and make some water available for animals and vegetables. Beneficiaries help to build these tanks themselves under the tutelage of local experts employed by NTA and using locally purchased materials, ensuring a real sense of community ownership.
