Annual Pride of Workmanship & Community Service Awards

Welcome

President Jon welcomed members, partners and guests to what is our most important meeting of the year, our Pride of Workmanship and Community Services Awards for 2021/22. He especially welcomed our Award recipients, their guests and special guest Kylea Tink, Member-elect for North Sydney, who presented the awards.

Toast

Peter Antaw gave a Toast to the Rotary Club of Coonabarabran, the town where Peter was born, as was our special guest tonight, Kylea Tink. The Club has 25 members, and its main fundraiser is from a large shopfront, manned 5.5 days a week, selling and receiving books. It also has a catering trailer. Proceeds go to many projects such as their local Rotary Park and building a school in Vanuatu.

Announcements
  • The Club’s next Bunnings BBQ is to be held on Saturday 2 July. Only two more volunteers are needed to complete the Roster.
  • The State final of the Rostrum Voice of Youth is to be held this Saturday and those interested in attending should contact Peter Grinter.
  • Our Changeover Dinner is scheduled for Tuesday 28 June and all are welcome.

NORTHBRIDGE COMMUNITY FIREWORKS RETURN A SUCCESS

Many would have seen the North Shore skyline light up with the Northbridge Rotary Club’s annual community fireworks on the evening of 7 May.  And what a spectacular afternoon and evening of fun, food and entertainment it was.

Well done to all those involved.

The event, attended by some 4,000 people, raised close to $50,000 which the Northbridge Rotary Club will use to support a range of worthy charities and causes.

Our special thanks to Willoughby  City Council and to Northbridge Plaza for what is now our 30th year of joint partnership with them for this event. Northbridge Rotary Club President, John Gidney, is photographed presenting a plaque to the Plaza management commemorating this achievement.
