Well, where were you last Tuesday evening? If you were at our 40th anniversary celebration dinner, then you know what a great night it was! So many highlights, but Joanne Coleman’s summary of the four decades was hard to beat! We all loved it. Thanks Joanne!
Our guest list of VIPs, past and present Rotarians, partners and friends totalled 90! …. What a terrific turnout. We have received many “thank yous” expressing gratitude that our Club organised the evening and invited them along. We will have a folder of these “Thank You” emails available for members to peruse next Tuesday. Thank you to the organising committee, so competently led by our Club Services Director, Helen Gulson.
As part of the Regionalisation Pilot Project, members will recall that late last year we completed a Community Grouping survey indicating how our club might like to be grouped with other clubs. We indicated a preference to be grouped geographically, i.e., with clubs spread over a relatively short distance. I am now informed that our request has been met. Our club is grouped with Chatswood International, Chatswood/Roseville, Crows Nest, Eastwood, Gladesville, Hunters Hill, Lane Cove, Macquarie Park, Mosman, North Ryde, North Sydney Sunrise & Ryde. Soon there will be Establishment Meetings where 2 representatives from our Club will be asked to discuss several issues including:
What do you wish to work on together?
How will you work together?
When and how often will you meet? Face to face or by Zoom?
Who might nominate for the Rotary Community Leader (RCL). Nominations will be called for soon.
If you have views on this, please email me.
Are you attending the District Conference on 15/16 March in Terrigal? Sadly, numbers attending from our Club are very low. Such a pity as a fun and informative agenda has been prepared. The activities include a short walk around Terrigal promoting “Say NO to Domestic Violence” and a beach Party evening dinner at the Crowne Plaza. If you would like to come please let me know ASAP as seats are filling fast.
Do you know that Rotary has seven Peace Centers around the world, including at Brisbane Uni? RI offers emerging leaders in peace and development the opportunity to learn and grow with well-established programs in peace studies, conflict resolution, and international development. The Rotary Peace Fellowship application is now open and available online through to 15 May 2024. If you know a potential candidate, encourage them toapply here.
Footy tipping is back….OR IS IT??? After five years of running the tipping comp for our Club it is time for me to retire. Please let me know if you would like to take it on. It very easy to operate – all computer-based – and brings in around $1,000pa for our charities. Let me know if you are interested.
Finally Tay Tay (aka Taylor Swift) is about to hit town and you will be hearing a lot about her next week in the media. If, like me, you know nothing of her music, listen here for a taste. Enjoy!
Northbridge Rotary celebrated it's 40th Anniversary at a dinner at Foy's Restaurant, Kirribilli last week.
