Jacqui Taffel
Primary Ethics

Jacqui Taffel is a features journalist and editor who has worked in radio and print. She was with the Sydney Morning Herald for 18 years, specialising in arts and food, working on Spectrum, Good Living and Shortlist, until taking voluntary redundancy last year. Now she is the Arts and Entertainment editor at the Wentworth Courier at News Corp. She also has a background in theatre.  Her husband is an artistic director at the Ensemble in Kirribilli. She lives in Cremorne Point and has a 10 year old son who goes to Cammeray Public School. 

Cammeray Public School has a very successful Primary Ethics program, teaching ethics to 400 students from Kindy to Year 6, in 19 classes. 

Jacqui Taffel will talk about

  • how and why Primary School Ethics started,

  • how the program works,

  • the role of volunteers,

  • her role as coordinator at Cammeray school,

  • the success of ethics in primary schools on the lower north shore,

  • and some of the challenges the program has faced.
