This Week’s Meeting - 29th March 2016

 

 

President John Turner welcomed guests Garth Carter and Assistant District

Governor Noel Cislowoski.

 

 

Noel Cislowoski made a toast to is home club, the Rotary Club of Chatswood,

Which has 35 members and has had 3 female presidents.  The Club is also second in the District in funding of Shelterboxes with 62 to their credit.

 

 

President John Turner advised that Rotary Bowel Care kits are available in the chemists from April 1.

 

Karin Eurell advised members that the Netball BBQ begins this Saturday and the Seniors Lunch on April 15.

 

The Membership ‘Open House’ will be Tuesday April 19, please advise Noel

Phelan of your guests as soon as possible. Also any suggestions for ‘high profile’ guests are welcome.

 

Peter Grinter announced that the heats for the Rostrum Voice of Youth will be held at the Ascham School in Edgecliff this Thursday.

 

 

 

 

President John Turner officiated at the induction of Garth Carter as new member of the Rotary Club of Northbridge.

Club Speaker     Richard Gearing – The Latest in Cycling

 

Richard spoke of the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of bike frames such as, steel, aluminum, titanium and carbon fibre. He then introduced us to an example of the latest in bike frame technology, the composite wood frame, which is seeking to provide the flexibility needed for a smooth ride with the stiffness required to efficiently transfer pedal power to the road.
